Website Updates

Female Northern Cardinal (c) Jim Miller
Mighty busy weekend for doing a number of things, not the least of which was polishing up a couple of web sites and making them look pretty.

Keywording is finally done over at SmugMug. This was a much bigger task than I had envisioned, but for now all of the images that I have available for sale have been properly keyworded and now it is time to start going through images that I shot from about mid-November last year to present to see what else is worthy of going up. I also really need to go through the entire Iceland library as well (film and digital) as I know that there are many worthy shots in the library that I have sold before but have not been cleaned up for online commerce. Stay tuned.

The Pictures from Iceland beta also had some work done to it this weekend, with the adding of 10 more images from the libary bringing the total number of images on that site to 60. When it hits 100, I'll sell ;) Actually, when it hits 100 it will come out of beta status and will replace the current site.

Unfortunately I didn't have any behind the camera time. I had hoped to get out today (Sunday) but I had too many tasks to accomplish and the weather, while nice for an autumn day, was not going to give me the light I was looking for on a couple of concepts. Maybe next weekend.

Progress Check

It has been a busy few days since my last entry, though unfortunately not really much with photography and photographic pursuits. The weather has been horrible and my time has been eaten up with less fun pursuits.

I have completed my move of my web presence over to SmugMug. I am, however, still keywording and captioning the images to allow for better identification and searching. I'm knocking out 10-15 images at at time, which means hopefully by the end of the month I will be done and will be able to start moving new images into the portfolio as well.

My hope is that this weekend I will have the time to get out and make some images at a couple of new places I heard about and finish the SmugMug transition.

J Miller Photo Blog: A New Beginning...

My best side
Greetings. You have found my little portion of the blogosphere that is devoted to my photography over many genres.

I am an advanced amateur/semi-pro photographer that calls San Angelo, Texas my adopted home (though I'm hardly ever home due to my "real" job.) I specialize in nature photography these days, with a special emphasis on birds and butterflies. I have and do shoot other things, but nature is where I feel most at home.

I have a serious soft spot in my heart for Iceland. I was blessed to be able to spend nearly 7 years in the Land of Fire and Ice and it was Iceland that pushed me towards photography. I own and maintain picturesfromiceland.com with a collection of my images during that part of my life. It is going through a major makeover right now and the link above is pointed to the beta which works but does not have all the blanks filled in (yet).

I hope to return in a couple of years to make some more images, experience her beauty, and eat a few lamb dogs.

To finance that future expedition, I sell prints through jmillerphoto.com.

So what can you expect to find here? Quick notes about where and what I'm taking pictures of, progress reports on the web rebuild(s), new images available for sale, and news about art show appearances and exhibits, and the occasional rant or rave about something in the photographic world.

And when can you expect to find it? I'm hoping at least weekly, though more often if it warrants it and less often if I find myself completely buried in my currently more financially satisfying occupation.

So again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy your stay.
